Viswanathan Anand bounces back in Norway Chess, beats Fabiano Caruana

Former world champion Viswanathan Anand defeated Fabiano Caruana of the United States in the sixth round to record his first victory of the Altibox chess tournament in Norway.

After losing two and tying three, Anand was eager to regain his winning streak and the Indian made in style at the expense of Caruana who suffered his first defeat in the tournament.

Anand raised 2.5 points in six possible and two white plays in the remaining three towers could simply help him recover.

Armenian Levon Aronian was the other winner of the day, who was a Russian Vladimir Kramnik, but world champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway remained victimless for the sixth day of the race, when Maxime Vachier-Lagrave was driven.

In other games of the day, Anish Giri of the Netherlands lost some opportunities before signing peace with Wesley So of the United States and another American Hikaru Nakamura could not break the ice against Sergey Karjakin of Russia.
With three rounds still to come, Nakamura and Aronian now share the lead in four points and appreciate a full point cushion in Giri, Kramnik, Karjakin and Wesley So. Anand, Carlsen, Caruana and Vachier share seventh place with 2.5 points each .

For Anand, well the day finally came, but it was as usual. Caruana went through unwarranted complications from the start and Anand did not care for them as he headed for a good position in the middle game.

The Italian-back-American was put under strong pressure and was decisive when Anand strategically surpassed its rival in the list.
